Public Invited to Scale the Steps of Durham County Courthouse

Durham, N.C. – The Durham County Sheriff's Office will never forget the innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001 and the brave first responders who answered the call to duty, some of them for the last time. In honor of their lives and their service, the Durham County Sheriff’s Office invites the public to participate in the 9/11 Fitness Memorial Challenge. Participants will scale the steps of the Durham County courthouse and perform exercises on each floor. The fitness challenge includes two separate stair-climb exercises that symbolize the life-saving efforts of the first responders who scaled hundreds of steps inside the World Trade Center.
