Natural Gas Leak Impacts Parts of RTP
Durham, NC — Motorists travelling through Research Triangle Park should note closure to a portion of T.W. Alexander Drive due to damage to a natural gas line this afternoon. The road is closed in both directions between Cedar Grove Road and Stirrup Creek Road. The cause of the damage, located in close proximity to the Amazon Distribution Center, 1733 TW Alexander Drive, is due to construction. There have not been any injuries or environmental damage at the location.
The closure and repair process has affected lunchtime traffic and will do the same during rush hour as employers in the area conclude business hours for the day. Anyone travelling in the area or using nearby roads, including Page Road and South Miami Blvd., should plan an alternative route ahead of their afternoon commute. The Durham Fire Department and hazmat are on the scene further investigating the issue.
