Durham County Social Services Board Selects New Agency Director
Durham, NC--- William “Ben” Rose has been selected unanimously as the new director of the Durham County Department of Social Services. Rose has had a 26 year career in the human services field. The trajectory of his career began as a mental health technician at Holly Hill Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. Over the course of his career he has served as Director over Chowan County Social Services for 18 years, and most recently has been the Human Services Director at Cabarrus County for the past 8 years.
Active in his community, Rose has served in leadership positions in a number of committees and boards, and is looking forward to engaging in the vibrant Durham community of leaders. “I am very excited about coming to Durham County and working with the staff, leaders and community partners to deliver services and to help make a difference”, says Rose. He will start in his new role as Director on Monday, October 9.
Rose holds a master’s degree in social work from Tulane University, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Campbell University. Currently, he is a member of the North Carolina Association of County Social Services Directors, The National Association of Human Service Administrators and the Rotary Club of Cabarrus County. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, William “Ben” Rose is married to Brenda Rose, and they have a 16 year old daughter, Anna.
