DURHAM, N.C. – All Durham County Department of Public Health (DCoDPH) webinars and events are FREE and open to the public.

A host of webinars are offered monthly to assist Durham residents.  This month includes:

October 17                              Project Blue Bridge Special Needs Dental Clinic                             8AM-NOON

2nd Floor Dental Clinic

Project Blue Bridge is a quarterly special needs dental clinic, specifically designed for individuals with developmental needs. We welcome youth up to age 21 with autism and intellectual developmental disabilities. Parents and youth are provided oral health education, nutrition education, and community resources. Insurance not required. Medicaid Accepted.

October 17      Resilience:  The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope (Film Screening)    6PM-7:30PM

Duke Regional Hospital Auditorium

Resilience is a new documentary directed by James Redford that delves into the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and a new movement to treat and prevent toxic stress. Resilience looks at the birth of the CDC-Kaiser Permanente ACE Study and how it’s spawned a movement across the U.S. It focuses on the work of pediatricians, therapists, educators and communities. It features interviews with several leaders in the ACEs

movement nationally and in communities. Resilience chronicles the promising beginnings of a national movement to prevent childhood trauma, treat toxic stress, and greatly improve the health of future generations.  Free entry, popcorn, and water.  RSVP at ethel.clay@duke.edu

Attend this FREE interactive grocery store tour if you are interested in learning how to make informed decisions about food while you shop for groceries. October 28                              3rd Annual Rabies Prevention Event                        9AM-3PM

Eastway Elementary School, 610 North Alston Avenue

If you live in Durham County, bring proof of residence and your furry pals for a FREE health exam, rabies vaccination, and microchip.  Collars, leashes, and pet ID tags will also be given while supplies last.  No appointment necessary.
