Commissioners Appoint New Clerk to the Board
Durham, NC – The Durham Board of Commissioners announced their selection for clerk to the board following their closed session on Monday, April 23, 2018. The Board has appointed Terri Lea Hugie to the position after a broad search for applicants to replace the retiring Clerk to the Board Michelle Parker-Evans. Hugie’s official start date is May 7th.
The Board looks forward to a smooth transition for this vital role and welcomes Hugie aboard. “I am confident that Terri is a great fit for the Clerk’s Office and Durham County. She brings passion, knowledge, and is excited to be a part of the Durham County family,” said Chair of the Durham Board of County Commissioners Wendy Jacobs.
Hugie brings more than 15 years of experience from both the private and public sector. She currently serves as clerk to the board for Cabarrus County. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. She has also served two years as an International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Fellow for the City of Fort Lauderdale and has experience in customer service, project management and process improvement.
Hugie has expressed excitement about her appointment and has shared with the Board her plans to “elevate and take the Durham County Clerk’s Office to the next level,” she said. Her background as a strong leader coupled with her administrative skills where integral to her selection to support the needs of the Board of Commissioners. “I am looking forward to the challenges and growth of the County.”
