BEFORE ATTENDING OUR PUBLIC AUCTIONS PLEASE READ BELOW:
The Executions Unit and the Tax Unit hold public auctions with the primary goal of satisfying judgments. The Durham County Sheriff's Office makes no guarantee or warranty with regards to any personal or real property sold. Therefore BUYER BEWARE all property is sold AS IS WHERE IS. It is strictly up to potential bidders to research any mortgages, liens, or encumbrances attached to any real or personal property they intend to bid on. All sales are made for cash per N.C. General Statutes; that is when you bid on real or personal property, you must pay at the sale in cash. Cashier’s checks and Money Orders are acceptable (no personal checks allowed) and must be payable to the Durham County Sheriff's Office but you must bring check or money order with you to the sale. If in the event a bidder does not have payment immediately at the sale, the sale will be nullified and the property will immediately be resold. Therefore do not place bids on any property unless you physically have the money at the sale with you. In the event of any over-payment at the sale by a bidder, the Sheriff’s Office will refund any over-payment to the bidder and it will be sent to via regular mail.
