G.R.E.A.T. LogoThe Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T) program is a school-based, law enforcement officer-instructed classroom curriculum taught to fourth- and sixth-grade students in Durham’s public schools.

The primary objective of the program is prevention. It is designed and intended as an immunization against delinquency, youth violence, and gang membership.

G.R.E.A.T. StudentsG.R.E.A.T lessons focus on teaching life skills to students that help them avoid using delinquent behavior and violence to solve problems.

G.R.E.A.T. deputies strive to build a bridge of understanding between youth, school personnel and law enforcement professionals.

This collective effort will assist in reducing gang involvement, violence and overall juvenile delinquency.
