Untreated Wastewater Discharged to Unnamed Tributary in Durham

Durham, N.C. – The County of Durham had a discharge of untreated wastewater from a wastewater collection system near East Institute Drive of approximately 6,000 gallons. The discharge was discovered on February 27, 2018. The untreated wastewater entered into an unnamed tributary that discharges to Burdens Creek. The cause is under investigation. This notice is required by North Carolina General Statues Article 21, Chapter 143-215C, requiring the issuance of a notice of discharge of untreated sewage of 1,000 gallons or more.
