County Convenience Sites Announce Winter Hours
Durham, N.C. – Maintaining safety and ease of use is a mainstay of Durham County’s Convenience Sites for disposing of trash, recyclables and other waste items. In keeping with those goals, each year at the end of Daylight Savings Time all four convenience sites begin closing at 6 p.m., one hour earlier than normal to maximize daylight hours. The change, which shifts normal operating hours of the sites to 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, will begin Monday, November 5, 2018 and end March 11, 2019.
“The safety of citizens and employees is the primary reason for the hour earlier closure of the convenience sites, said Chrissie Koroivui, Solid Waste Program Manager for Durham County General Services. “Several sites are located in wooded areas with limited lighting that get dark quickly during the winter months. We want to do what we can to reduce the likelihood of customer or attendant incident or injury due to darkness.”
Site locations include:
- Bahama – 9008 Quail Roost Road, Bahama, 27503
- Redwood – 100 Electra Road, Durham, 27704
- Rougemont – 108 Bill Poole Road, Rougemont, 27572
- Parkwood – 5928 Highway 55, Durham, 27713
