Most Durham County Offices to Close for Veterans Day

Durham, N.C. – Durham County Government will close most offices in observance of the Veterans Day holiday on Monday, November 12, 2018. All offices will reopen with normal hours of operation on Tuesday, November 13.

Durham County Convenience Centers

 

The Durham County General Services Department will close all four of its solid waste and recycling convenience sites on November 12. Durham County residents with a current 2018-2019 solid waste decal can resume disposal of garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky items at the County’s convenience sites on November 13, beginning at 7 a.m. 

 

The Durham County roadside recycling schedule for customers on Schedule B, normally serviced the week of November 12 will maintain the same schedule. All residents are reminded to set out their recycling bins before 7 a.m. on the day of pickup, to avoid a missed collection.

Durham County Library

 

All Durham County Library locations will be closed on Sunday, November 11 and Monday, November 12. All locations will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, November 13.

Durham County Public Health

 

The Durham County Department of Public Health will follow the Durham County Government Veterans Day holiday closing schedule.

 

For Public Health emergencies during the holiday closure, including communicable disease reporting, environmental health and suspected foodborne illnesses, please call 911 and ask for the Durham County Department of Public Health’s response team member on-call.

Durham County Social Services

 

On November 12, the Durham County Department of Social Services (DSS) will close its offices for the Veterans Day Holiday. Residents are encouraged to call 911 to reach an on-call social worker to report child abuse and neglect or adult abuse and neglect. On Tuesday, November 13, DSS will reopen and operate according to its normal hours of operation. Get more information about Durham County Department of Social Services here.

 

Durham County Sheriff

 

Durham County Sheriff Department patrol division, as always, is available 24/7. The Sheriff’s Administration and Records Division will be closed on November 12th and will reopen on November 13th.
