The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program Will Be Open to All Durham Residents January 2, 2019
Durham, NC -- All Durham residents will soon be able to apply for help with their home heating bills. Residents who are 60 years and over, and/or are disabled were able to apply for the LIEAP program as a priority December 3-December 31st. The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program will be open to all Durham County residents, January 2nd through March 31st, 2019, or until funds have been exhausted.
The LIEAP program provides a one-time payment for eligible households to receive help with their energy bill. Durham County DSS will administer the program at the Human Services Building, 414 E. Main St., in downtown Durham.
The hours for the LIEAP program are: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Residents must go to the Crisis Lobby, Lobby #27 to complete their application.
During the holiday season DSS will be closed December 24, 25, 26, and January 1, 2019. Durham residents should plan their visit accordingly, and must bring a photo ID, social security card, income verification and verification of the heating source—a heating bill to their appointment.
