Committee to Share Findings and Recommendations for Toppled Confederate Statue

DURHAM, N.C. – Eight months of research and conversations about Confederate statues, memorials and symbols of the Confederacy in Durham have culminated into a final report completed by the City-County Committee on Confederate Monuments and Memorials. The jointly-appointed Committee will share their recommendations and completed report at the City-County Joint Committee Meeting on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. The meeting will take place at City Hall, located at 101 City Hall Plaza, from 9 – 11 a.m. A press conference led by City-County Committee on Confederate Monuments and Memorials Committee Chairs Robin Kirk and Charmaine McKissick-Melton will immediately follow the meeting. The press conference will provide the media the opportunity to ask questions about the report and recommendations for the Confederate statue toppled in downtown Durham during the summer of 2017.
