Board of Elections Office to Relocate Temporarily
Transition will begin January 23rd; Move will Include Service Interruptions
Durham, N.C. – Prior to the doors of the renovated Administration II Building opening in the fall of 2018, Durham County Government moved nine departments from various locations across the organization to the updated site. Preparations for another round of relocations are underway as renovations to the County Judicial Annex, located at 201 N. Roxboro Street, will begin at the end of the month. The Board of Elections Office housed on the first floor of the Judicial Annex will be impacted by the construction project.
Relocation of the Board of Elections (BOE) Office will occur between Wednesday, January 23rd and Thursday, January 24th. The Office will be closed during the transitional period as staff and equipment are relocated to 120 E. Parrish Street, situated between Church and Mangum Streets, from 201 N. Roxboro Street. On Friday, January 25 th, the Office will reopen with normal hours of operation. Residents and visitors seeking services provided by the BOE Office at its new location should consider nearby public parking options before planning a visit to the site. The Church Street Parking Deck accessible from Main and Ramseur Streets and on street parking are among options close to the temporary location.
Renovations to the Judicial Annex will include repurposing of the second and third floors of the structure. While updates to the building will not impact the BOE Office directly, the facility will be considered a construction zone making it too dangerous for staff and visitors to enter and exit safely throughout the renovation project. Renovations to the Judicial Annex are scheduled for completion by the fall of 2019. Once the project is completed, the BOE Office will move back to its original location on the first floor of the facility.
