Child Support Amnesty Event on Sept. 25th

Child Support Division Holding Program at Durham County Courthouse 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Post Date:09/18/2019 12:35 PM

Durham, NC – Non-custodial parents get behind in their child support payments for several reasons, job loss, medical issues and more. Getting behind in child support has serious repercussions such as having a warrant for your arrest. The Durham County Child Support Division can help citizens with cases in Durham county, by offering them Child Support Amnesty.

The agency’s Child Support Amnesty program allows those non-custodial parents to pay $500 per child support case on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at the Durham Courthouse located at 510 S. Dillard St., in courtroom 5B, between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Amnesty day is one day only, and for the times indicated. Some non-custodial parents may have a bond less than $500 per child support case. In those situations, the client must bring that bail amount to the court.

This Child Support Amnesty program is solely for Durham County Child Support cases in serious arrears. No other North Carolina county Child Support cases are eligible.

“It is our intention to allow non-custodial parents in serious arrears have an opportunity to do a reset and get a fresh start”, states Quannah Jackson-Brown, Child Support Program Manager.

The agency has three specific phone numbers to call for more information about Child Support Amnesty: (919) 560-8900, (919) 560-8901 and (919) 560-8930.
