2020 Durham City-County Martin Luther King, Jr. Observance Program Announced
Made in Durham Executive Director Casey Steinbacher to Deliver Keynote Speech
DURHAM, N.C. – Honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is the purpose of the annual Durham City-County Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Employee Observance Program. This year marks the 15th year of the celebration jointly hosted by Durham’s local governments. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, January 15, 2020. The program will begin at noon at First Presbyterian Church located at 305 E. Main St. in downtown Durham.
Made in Durham Executive Director Casey Steinbacher will be the keynote speaker for this event. Steinbacher, former CEO of the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce, was a founding member of Made in Durham’s Board of Directors while she was the Chamber of Commerce’s chief executive. She left the Chamber to form a consulting company that focuses on urban innovation called Casey’s Company. She recently returned to the board to chair the Management Committee and took the helm of Made in Durham in November 2017.
The community is invited to enjoy the program, which will also include remarks from local leaders and elected officials. The Durham City-County MLK Employee Choir will provide musical selections.
