Durham County Library COVID-19 Update
Library Locations Closed
In light of Governor Roy Cooper’s Executive Order and the North Carolina State of Emergency, as of March 15, 2020, effective immediately, all Durham County Library locations are closed to the public until further notice.
Library patrons are asked to note the following:
- Holds on library resources will be suspended.
- No fines will be accrued as of March 6, 2020. Your patience is requested while we work to reflect these updates to the tracking system.
- Online resources continue to be available.
Durham County Library staff should look for more details soon to come from their supervisors. The decision to close our libraries was a difficult call, however, our commitment to the safety of staff, customers, and our community is foremost.
Any updates will be posted on our website, DurhamCountyLibrary.org, as well as the social media channels of Durham County Library and Durham County Government.
Durham County Library’s mission is to encourage discovery, connect the community, and lead in literacy. We remain committed to this mission even as our physical locations are closed to the public at this time. We look forward to reopening and will share updates about when that will be as soon as we know.
