Parkwood Convenience Site to Update Hours of Operation

Durham, N.C. – In the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, Durham County’s General Services Department is taking steps to protect both the public and its employees from the virus. Effective, Wednesday, April 8, 2020, the hours for the Parkwood Convenience Site, located at 5928 Highway 55, will be reduced. The following outlines the updated hours of operation:

 

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday

7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

  • Tuesday and Thursday

10:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.

  • Saturday and Sunday

Closed

 

Hours of operation for the County’s remaining convenience sites will not change.

 

While the COVID-19 situation is fluid, Durham County General Services must take the necessary precautions to limit the spread of the virus. Citizens accessing County Convenience Sites should follow the rules of social distancing and remain 6 feet away from one another while disposing of waste.

 

Customers using County Convenience Sites are reminded of the following measures that are currently in effect:

  • No bulky loads
  • All trash must be bagged
  • Solid Waste decals will only be sold to unincorporated Durham County residents
  • Saturday hours at the Bahama, Redwood, and Rougemont Sites are 7 a.m. – 12 p.m.

 

Durham County Convenience Sites are for residential waste only. No commercial waste will be accepted.
