Commissioner meetings

The public is welcome to attend Board meetings. Residents may attend meetings in person, via Zoom, or watch live online and on DTN. There is no sign-up sheet or request form to attend meetings, however, it is important to note that there are limited seating options. 

A low-capacity overflow seating area is provided in the lobby on the second floor of the Administration Building. Individuals seated in the lobby can view the meeting on screens.

While social distancing will be established with seat arrangements, in-person attendees are reminded of the benefits of masking while in indoor spaces populated by others. Residents who wish to observe meetings are encouraged to continue using the virtual option and watch live on the County’s website.

Joining Meetings Virtually

The information for joining the meeting virtually is as follows:

Residents may deliver comments on agenda items for the meeting in person or virtually.

In-Person Speaking Option

  • Regular Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give public comments and complete the Public Comments (Agenda Items only) form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Public Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Public Comment on Agenda Items can be found here.
  • Work Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give citizen comments and complete the Citizen Comments form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Citizen Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Citizen Comments can be found here.

Hybrid Speaking Option

  • All speakers must submit their full name and address via email or telephone to the Clerk to the Board at clerk@dconc.gov or 919-560-0025. These submissions must be completed by 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 7th.
  • All virtual participants will be muted upon entry to the meeting. If they are signed up to speak, they will be unmuted individually by the Clerk’s office when it is their turn to speak.

Access Meetings Live on Durham Television Network

The virtual option aligns with social distancing requirements which ensure the safety of citizens who wish to participate as well as Board members and Durham County Government staff. Citizens who wish to view the BOCC meeting can watch rebroadcasts on the Durham Television Network, which is available on AT&T U-verse channel 99, Spectrum channel 8, and Frontier Communications channel 70. The meeting will also be streamed live on the County’s website and on the County’s YouTube Channel.

  • 2025 Municipal Primary Election - Early Voting for the 2025 Municipal Primary Election will be held in person at one of five early voting sites from Thursday, September 18 through 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 4. You can request a no-excuse absentee by-mail ballot fully online on or before Sept. 23rd. Please note that the registration deadline for the Municipal Primary Election is Friday, September 12. The 2025 Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., at your assigned polling place. More info at www.dconc.gov or by calling 919-560-0700.

  • A.S.I.S.T. Training on Sept. 11 & 12 - Join Alliance Health and the DCo Department of Public Health for a FREE two-day workshop. This training is an in person 2 day all day training that teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. Trainings on Sept. 11 & 12, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 414 E. Main Street. Register at https://bit.ly/DCoASIST25.

  • Durham-to-Roxboro Rail Trail Plan Survey - Staff from the City of Durham and Durham County, the NCDOT, and Triangle West Transportation Planning Organization are looking for your input on the Durham-to-Roxboro Rail Trail Plan - a project that aims to establish a 26-mile trail network linking Durham to Roxboro. Take a minute to take our online survey by September 22 to provide additional feedback on the conceptual designs for the Durham-to-Roxboro Rail Trail Plan. Your input will help us shape a trail that reflects the needs and vision of our community. Survey at https://durham2roxborotrailplan.com.

  • DCo Library “These Routes Are Made for Walkin’ Exercise Challenge” - Discover the deep roots of Durham with our 2025 exercise challenge that celebrates the story of Bull City’s history. Track the number of minutes you exercise using our tracker available at South Regional Library or request a printable PDF and you could win a prize! The challenge runs from September 19 through October 31. Trackers will be available beginning Monday, September 15 and are due at South Regional Library by Saturday, November 8.
