Commissioner meetings

The public is welcome to attend Board meetings. Residents may attend meetings in person, via Zoom, or watch live online and on DTN. There is no sign-up sheet or request form to attend meetings, however, it is important to note that there are limited seating options. 

A low-capacity overflow seating area is provided in the lobby on the second floor of the Administration Building. Individuals seated in the lobby can view the meeting on screens.

While social distancing will be established with seat arrangements, in-person attendees are reminded of the benefits of masking while in indoor spaces populated by others. Residents who wish to observe meetings are encouraged to continue using the virtual option and watch live on the County’s website.

Joining Meetings Virtually

The information for joining the meeting virtually is as follows:

Residents may deliver comments on agenda items for the meeting in person or virtually.

In-Person Speaking Option

  • Regular Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give public comments and complete the Public Comments (Agenda Items only) form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Public Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Public Comment on Agenda Items can be found here.
  • Work Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give citizen comments and complete the Citizen Comments form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Hybrid Speaking Option

  • All speakers must submit their full name and address via email or telephone to the Clerk to the Board at clerk@dconc.gov or 919-560-0025. These submissions must be completed by 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 2nd.
  • All virtual participants will be muted upon entry to the meeting. If they are signed up to speak, they will be unmuted individually by the Clerk’s office when it is their turn to speak.

Access Meetings Live on Durham Television Network

The virtual option aligns with social distancing requirements which ensure the safety of citizens who wish to participate as well as Board members and Durham County Government staff. Citizens who wish to view the BOCC meeting can watch rebroadcasts on the Durham Television Network, which is available on AT&T U-verse channel 99, Spectrum channel 8, and Frontier Communications channel 70. The meeting will also be streamed live on the County’s website and on the County’s YouTube Channel.

  • Early Voting for the Municipal General Election Ends on Nov. 1 – Early Voting for the 2025 Municipal General Election runs through 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1. There are five early voting locations – North Regional, East Regional, South Regional, NCCU Turner Law Building, and the Durham County Board of Elections main office at 3825 S. Roxboro Street.   • Potential Disruption to Food & Nutrition Benefits – The Durham County Department of Social Services has received notices from state and federal agencies that IF the government shutdown continues, there may be a disruption in food and nutrition benefits in November. We know how important these benefits are to you and your family. DCoDSS will continue to process applications and recertifications as normal. Go to the state’s website at www.ncdhhs.gov/fns or visit www.dconc.gov/DSS for updates.

  • End Hunger Durham Resources – End Hunger Durham is a local agency with a complete and current listing of food banks and pantries in our community. Visit https://endhungerdurham.org to see a real-time listing and map of locations.

  • Feedback Wanted for Durham Bus Rapid Transit Vision Plan – The Durham County Transportation Department is seeking community input on the development of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Vision Plan to ensure it reflects local priorities. There will be two in person sessions (Thursday, Oct. 30, 3-5 p.m. at Main Library and Thursday, Nov. 6, 5-7 p.m. at Durham Station) as well as a virtual session (Tuesday, Nov. 18, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Join here: https://kimley-horn.zoom.us/j/98587989690). Residents may also share feedback with online survey here: https://durhambrtvision.com/Fall_2025_Survey.   • Most DCo Offices to Close for Veterans Day – Most Durham County Government offices will close in observance of the Veterans Day holiday on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. All offices will reopen with normal hours on Wednesday, Nov. 12. Read about impacts on services at www.dconc.gov.

  • County to Host Annual Veterans Day Celebration on Nov. 10 – Everyone is invited to attend the 14th Annual Durham County Veterans Day Recognition and Celebration Program at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 10. The Durham County Veteran Services Department will host its annual event inside Conference Rooms A, B, and C on the second floor of the County’s Human Services Building (HSB) at 414 E. Main St. Each year, Durham County recognizes U.S. military veterans of all branches of service during this celebration of patriotism, service, and sacrifice. The program will include the singing of the National Anthem, a “Walk of Honor” for veterans, a keynote address from Durham County Department of Public Health Director Dr. Rod Jenkins, and a POW/MIA presentation. The theme for this year’s event is “Loyalty and Service: Honoring All Who Served.”
