Commissioner meetings

The public is welcome to attend Board meetings. Residents may attend meetings in person, via Zoom, or watch live online and on DTN. There is no sign-up sheet or request form to attend meetings, however, it is important to note that there are limited seating options. 

A low-capacity overflow seating area is provided in the lobby on the second floor of the Administration Building. Individuals seated in the lobby can view the meeting on screens.

While social distancing will be established with seat arrangements, in-person attendees are reminded of the benefits of masking while in indoor spaces populated by others. Residents who wish to observe meetings are encouraged to continue using the virtual option and watch live on the County’s website.

Joining Meetings Virtually

The information for joining the meeting virtually is as follows:

Residents may deliver comments on agenda items for the meeting in person or virtually.

In-Person Speaking Option

  • Regular Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give public comments and complete the Public Comments (Agenda Items only) form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Public Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Public Comment on Agenda Items can be found here.
  • Work Sessions: All speakers must give their full name and address to give citizen comments and complete the Citizen Comments form and submit it to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting to speak before the Board. Citizen Comment forms are also provided at the meeting. Rules for Citizen Comments can be found here.

Hybrid Speaking Option

  • All speakers must submit their full name and address via email or telephone to the Clerk to the Board at clerk@dconc.gov or 919-560-0025. These submissions must be completed by 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 30th.
  • All virtual participants will be muted upon entry to the meeting. If they are signed up to speak, they will be unmuted individually by the Clerk’s office when it is their turn to speak.

Access Meetings Live on Durham Television Network

The virtual option aligns with social distancing requirements which ensure the safety of citizens who wish to participate as well as Board members and Durham County Government staff. Citizens who wish to view the BOCC meeting can watch rebroadcasts on the Durham Television Network, which is available on AT&T U-verse channel 99, Spectrum channel 8, and Frontier Communications channel 70. The meeting will also be streamed live on the County’s website and on the County’s YouTube Channel.

Announcements

  • Durham County to Observe Thanksgiving Holiday - Most Durham County Government offices will be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28. All offices will reopen with normal hours on Monday, December 1. For information on how this will impact certain services, visit www.dconc.gov.

  • Facilitators/Organizations Needs to Lead Invest Forward - Forward Cities is looking for skilled facilitators or entrepreneurial support organizations to lead the upcoming Invest Forward cohort program in Durham, launching early 2026. This initiative includes two tracks: a Start Up Track for early-stage founders guided by the Kauffman Foundation FastTrac curriculum, and an Accelerator Track for growth-stage businesses ready to expand. Facilitators will co-design curriculum, lead sessions, and support founders in collaboration with the E3 Durham program.   • DCo Food Security Microgrants - Need funding for your food pantry, community garden, feeding neighbors, etc? Are you a non-profit? We’re excited to announce that the 2025 Durham County’s food security microgrants application has opened. This grant opportunity is funded by Durham County and administered by Durham Congregations in Action. These are small grants (generally between $500-$5,000) for community food security projects.   • Durham Holiday Parade on Dec. 13 - Kick off the holiday season at the Durham Holiday Parade from Durham Parks and Recreation! Cheer on hometown bands, drill teams, schools, and community groups as they make their way down Main Street on Saturday, December 13 at 10 a.m. The procession will conclude with a guest appearance from Santa.
