Project Description

About The Facility:  Lincoln Community Health Center opened in 1971 and is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable, primary health care to residents of Durham County.  The majority of patients that receive care at the center live far below the federal poverty level.  A small number receive help through Medicaid or Medicare, but the majority are uninsured.  The center charges patients on a sliding fee scale.

Lincoln Community Health Center's ongoing efforts to serve the under-insured or uninsured benefit all citizens of Durham County.  Access to comprehensive primary care and prevention services can avert serious or life-threatening health issues that frequently result from a lack of timely medical intervention, and that ultimately require more costly treatments.

About the Renovation: This project is an interior renovation of portions of both floors of the building and will be conducted in several phases. Renovation work includes demolition and reconfiguration of walls, new casework and finishes, new ceiling tile and light fixtures, new plumbing fixtures, and reconfiguration of the existing mechanical system to support new work. New materials will include recycled content flooring and low-VOC paint products.  Additional areas will be renovated, including conference rooms, existing toilets, and office areas.  Total renovation area is 22,616 square feet.  The outpatient medical clinic will remain functional during the renovation.
