The mission of the Finance Department is to consistently maintain the County's financial information in providing financial security and stability for the County and to ensure the cost effective, efficient and timely procurement of necessary goods and services for the County to enable County departments to achieve their mission which is to effectively deliver services to Durham County citizens.

The Finance Department is to provide complete, accurate, effective and efficient financial information and services for management and all user departments, ensure compliance with federal, state and local legislation, maintain an attitude of teamwork and customer service to sister departments and the community and contribute to the prosperity of Durham County Government through active investment management, debt management, procurement management and financial planning and monitoring.
