Convenience Sites are for residential waste only.  All users of the Sites must display a current Solid Waste Decal.  All other users will be turned away.

Please note the following changes in Operating Hours and Policies response to Covid 19:

Please bag garbage or household waste.  This helps to reduce potential transmission, and allows you to unload more quickly.

Convenience Sites will accept Bulky Waste (limited to 1 dump per week), but NOT Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste.  Bulky waste includes mattresses, furniture, large toys, etc.   We will NO LONGER ACCEPT ANY CONSTRUCTION OR DEMOLITION material, even if you completed the project yourself.  This is in accordance with our Solid Waste Ordinance.  In the past, we had accepted that from residents as a courtesy, but due to budget reductions and in order to follow our ordinance, we will no longer accept that material.  Construction and Demolition waste is defined as any waste that is generated from the construction, renovation, repair, remodeling, or demolition of a structure.  This includes wood waste, rolls of carpet, drywall, windows, treated lumber, toilets, tiles, etc. If you have material of this type, please review this list of potential outlets.

Unincorporated Durham County Residents

Durham County operates four Solid Waste Convenience Sites that offer drop-off service for recycling and the disposal of residential trash, white goods, and yard waste. Residents must display the blue 2019-20 Solid Waste Decal in order to use these services. Renters can request a decal from their landlord.  2020-21 decals will be mailed during the Summer of 2020.  Please be on the look out for a mailing from the Tax Department.

If you have lost your decal or have additional questions, contact the Durham County Tax Office at 919-560-0300.

The Convenience Sites do not accept any commercial waste, including trash,  construction and demolition waste, and yard waste.  If you were paid to pick it up, do not bring it to a Convenience Site.

No dual wheeled vehicles or trailers.  No box trucks, enclosed trailers, or commercial vehicles.

Trailers may not be longer than 8 feet with side rails no higher than 4 feet.

Site Attendants may limit yard waste loads in times of high activity in order to preserve space for all customers.
