Unincorporated Durham County Residents

Durham County operates four Solid Waste Convenience Sites that offer drop-off service for recycling and the disposal of residential trash, white goods, and yard waste. Beginning, September 4, 2018, residents must display the beige 2018-19 Solid Waste Decal in order to use these services.  Solid Waste Decals are issued on a fiscal year basis and were included with your 2018 real estate tax bill which was mailed in August 2018.  The orange decal will not be accepted after September 4, 2018.

Renters can request a decal from their landlord. If you have lost your decal or have additional questions, contact the Durham County Tax Office at 919-560-0300.  The 2018-2019 Solid Waste Fee is $158.81.

The Convenience Sites do not accept commercial waste or construction and demolition waste.

Bulky Item loads are limited to 1 dump per week.  Big items such as furniture and cabinets should be broken down BEFORE arriving at the site.

No dual wheeled vehicles or trailers.

Trailers may not be longer than 8 feet with side rails no higher than 4 feet.

Site Attendants may limit yard waste loads in times of high activity in order to preserve space for all customers.

City of Durham Residents

To use the garbage or yard waste services at the Convenience Sties, residents who live within the City of Durham may purchase a Solid Waste Decal from the Durham County Tax Office. Call 919-560-0300 for more information.

City of Durham residents do not need a decal in order to use the drop off recycling services.
