Farm Campus

In 2024, Durham County purchased129-acres for a Durham County Farm Campus. The property at 308 Orange Factory Rd. is on Hwy 501 in North Durham and includes large tracts of farm fields, four ponds, and a forest. In addition to farming, the site could support complementary uses like trails and fishing. The engagement process will include conversations about the features of Farm Campus—the incubator farm, post-harvest food education facility, value added production facility, and a healing garden.

Mobile Poultry Processing Unit

Do you need an efficient, accessible, straightforward, and cost-effective way to process your birds? A Mobile Poultry Processing Unit (MPPU) is available for local producers in Orange and Durham counties to rent and utilize on-farm.

Small Farms & Local Foods

The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has launched the Visit NC Farms App to connect residents and visitors with local agricultural experiences across North Carolina!
